1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

The word Christ, means Anointed One. (Phil 2:7 amp) Jesus became like men and was born a human being, stripping himself of all priviledges and assuming the guise of a servant . All the marvelous, wonderful things that happened around Him and through Him all the time He ministered on earth, He did as a man filled with and anointed by the Holy Ghost. Jesus said (John 5:19), "The Son can do nothing of himself." Jesus came like men so that each one of us could become sons of God through Him and do those things that He does (John 14:12) and the greater works! Jesus believed and spoke The WORD. It worked for Him because He understood and operated according to the process God has always used to get things done, not by might but by His Spirit. (Zec 4:6). Jesus was anointed by the Holy Spirit with power (Acts 10:38) the same way that we can believe, speak the word and walk in Him, anointed in the spirit of God (1 Joh 2:27 amp).

2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;

3 And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;

4 And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;

5 And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;

6 And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;

7 And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;

8 And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;

9 And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;

10 And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;

11 And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:

12 And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;

13 And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;

14 And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;

15 And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;

16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

Matthew enters into such detail regarding Jesus Christ, the Anointed One. Such detail leaves no doubt of His earthly lineage as the son of man (Gal 3:16, 29.) His lineage confirms that the physical seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is Christ and the spiritual seed of Abraham includes every true child of God who receives Jesus Christ by faith.

Abraham's blessing, which was received from God, has become our blessing, through Christ. "And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." (Gen 12:31, Gal 3:13-14). The gospel of salvation through faith is for all nations. "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree’— in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith" (Gal 3:13-14, Gal 3:29). Completed on the cross "it is finished" (John 19:30). For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death (Rom 8:2).

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

Jesus heavenly lineage, from Our Heavenly Father manifest through the Holy Ghost. Jesus, the son of God who became the son of man, so that through Him the sons and daughters of men and women could become the sons and daughters of God.

19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.

20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

So we see that the means by which Jesus was manifest is the Holy Ghost. Manifest legally from heaven, entering the earth via mankind. No one can enter earth unless legally by birth. Jesus comes from the spirit via the Holy Spirit manifest in the flesh as man.

22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Mary brings forth Jesus from the spirit through her virginity, to beome God with us, finally as the prophets foretold, The Way has come for the salvation of mankind.

24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

The name Jesus means God saves. Wonderful, counsellor, mighty God the Prince of peace (Is 9:6)
