1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

Jesus begins the principle (Gen 8:22) the first mention declared by God becomes a principle in God) of sowing and reaping (Gal 6:7) Whatever is sown will be reaped, or returned back. To sow love reaps love in return, to sow judgment in itself returns judgment on ones self.

2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

The amount by which the seed of Judgment is sown (see commentary in Mat 13:3) judgment will be returned back.

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

When judgment is made on another, our own shortcomings are ignored, judgment in another can be as small as a splinter, compared to a great beam of wood that resides in our own.

4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

Judgment on another blocks our spiritual sight and causes spiritual blindness, which hinders the ability to walk in the light of God. What is important is to walk in God's sight (1 Pet 3:4).

5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

In the principle of sowing and reaping, to overcome sowing the wrong seed (1 Pet 1:23), sow fruit of the spirit, sow love(Gal 5:22) then see clearly to bear another's burden back to God (Col 3:13)

6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

Refers to protecting the anointing of God, when bearing another's burden, do not take on the burden, but carry the burden back to God. (Ps 55:22) To carry the burden oneself gives a foothold for the thief to steal the word (Mark 4:15).

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

The principle of receiving wisdom from God (Jam 1:5).

A.) Ask according to God's word, God's will

S.) Seek first the Kingdom of God to find God's way of doing and being right.

K.) Knock (Rev 3:20) Hear God's voice His Word and He will answer.

8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

(Mark 11:23) applying the principle of A.S.K. and it will be given (Jam 1:5).

9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

Asking in the faith of Christ receives in answer, the seed of God which is the word of God. Sow the seed and it will produce Godly results (2 Cor 9:10) not that which is not of God (1 Cor 15:38).

11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

God is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him (Heb 11:6).

12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Confirms that whatsoever is sown will produce a like harvest. Sow the love of God (John 3:16-17) God so loved us that He sowed His only son Jesus for us to reap everlasting life.

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Enter the love of God by the door, Jesus, He is the strait gate (John 10:9).

All other doors are wide, which entices us to be led astray to the wrong destination (John 10:8).

14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

(Matth 24:5) There are many voices calling this is the way, but in truth there is one way only (John 14:6) and His voice is calling (Prov 1:20) but few want to A.S.K. in response.

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Begins Jesus advice to prevent deception.

Prophets may come that appear to be of God. but inside their motives are full of deceptive ways (Luke 21:8).

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

Test the spirits (1 John 4:1), does what they say line up with God's Word? Does it produce the fruit of the spirit? (Gal 5:22) are they of God?

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

God's principle of sowing and reaping is here likened to a tree. From seed it brings forth what is in the seed.

God's word is incorruptible seed (1 Pet 1:23) and will produce everlasting life.

Perishable seed will produce corrupt fruit.

As displayed by Adam who ate from the tree of corruption and his fruit was separation from God spiritual death (Gen 2:17).

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

(John 15:1) Jesus is the true vine and we are His branches, if we hang or abide in Him we will produce good fruit 100 fold (Mat 13:8).

19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

(John 15:6) Refers to hearing the Gospel and denying Christ. Even if we miss the mark, if we remain in Him we are pruned back into the True Vine (John 15:2).

20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

There is a test that can be applied to guard against deception, their fruit. Not only what they say, but what they do.

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Many will call Christ their Lord and Master, but in practice they are walking in their own thinking and devices. To walk according to God's will, His word is to walk in the Kingdom of Heaven, God's way

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Many will even attempt to convince by their religious sounding words but on the inside, their motives are impure.

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

A stern rebuke and warning to those that are intent on deceiving, whose heart is far from Him (Is 29:13).

24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

To A.S.K and then do what God has said in His Word is like a man full of wisdom (Prov 4:7) who is building his heart on the rock Jesus Christ (Ps 18:2-6)

25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

No matter what happens, as for me and my house we will serve the Lord (Josh 24:15).

26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Whilst the sun shined, all looked good on the outside, a reference to false prophets, but when adversity comes a life not built upon the rock will fall.

28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

Adam was given two gifts from God, authority, or dominion and seed (Gen 1:28-29) His authority was stolen by satan, who then corrupted it and used it as control. Controlling people through others.

Jesus Christ has taken back all authority in heaven and in the earth (Mat 28:18).

To live in Christ is to live in His authority which He has assigned us in His Name (Luke 10:19).

Now we either choose to live and dwell in His authority, with authority over the enemy not people, we are to love people (John 13:34), or live under the control of the enemy (Duet 30:19).
